The O-1 American Visa

Today marks the official expiry date of my O-1 American VISA. As an "Alien of Extraordinary Ability", I have been blessed to not only train but WORK in Los Angeles, California. It is still surreal to me that 3 years have already passed by! It feels like yesterday I was getting rejected by several lawyers when approaching them about obtaining a visa. I recall one lawyer looking at me straight in my eyes and firmly said,"You won't be able to get your visa". He offered no hope and no advice. I just smiled politley as the burning energy in me rose. When someone tells me I can't do something, it only builds my power to prove their 'impossible' to my POSSIBLE.

I have been awarded with many Certificates and Diplomas in the past but this piece of paper is one of the most significant symbols of my perserverance, hard work, determination, and strong belief in myself. It is NOT easy to get this visa as you have to prove that you are in the TOP 5% in the American Dance Industry. Luckily I had wonderful people around me that believed in my talent and supported my efforts. Without them, who knows where I would be.

As I return HOME to Toronto, there is a great sense of self-accomplishment and duty. It has always been my dream to come back home and develop and inspire the dance world here.

Thanks to a good friend who gave me a little bit of butt kicking the other night about keeping up with my blogs, this 'ALIEN' is committed to blogging much more often these days as there are so many stories, ideas, thoughts, and people that I'd like to share with you. It's going to be a busy busy 2009 year so stay tuned!!!
